The best way to find an internship is to plan ahead, conduct lots of research, apply early, and to follow up. I know, easier said, than done. However, with careful planning, the job can become a little easier.
The first step is to prepare yourself so you are a competitive applicant for an internship. Look for opportunities to enhance your skills and experiences beyond the classroom. More and more companies are searching for interns who have previous internships, or considerable experience with their campus media. So, volunteer now to work with campus media such as Live Oak, Elon Student Television, WSOE Radio and the Pendulum. Campus organizations where you can utilize your skills and talents would also be helpful. Perhaps, you can also find that opportunity by contacting the Kernodle Center for Service Learning. Once you have prepared yourself, then you’re ready for the next step…research!
